@Liquifin just a small clarification, I am not new to the hobby. I have kept true spiders since 4 and started on the tarantulas since 8 or 9. Care, habits, behaviors, sexing through molts, and stuff like that, I am rock solid.
But ventral sexing, I am an absolute newb because I would just wait for a clear molt. I suddenly have a whole bunch of time on my hands and what better way to spend my time than learning something new about things that I love.
I want to be like the people can just glance and say right away if they have a male and female. Some are tricking though.
Thank you for the links. It is helpful when they are bigger and super obvious. My male was hard for a while but it became more clear over time.
How are you at A. Avicularia's? I have one that I just can’t figure out at all. I must have looked at 100 pictures by now and still at 50/50
@Drea The Avicularia genus it is a rusty one for me. I do not own any more Avic species, because I wanted a break from them. I had 2 A. avics in the past, but I gave one away and the other I sent off to another breeder with a female. I had care for some species in the Avic genus, but I just took a break because I wasn't feeling them as much but the A. purpea and A. versicolor (Now C. versicolor). Will I go back for avics? Maybe. How is my sexing skills with them? Decent but not as good since I've been away from them for so long. So I can say with confidence that the Avic genus is not my strong suit now.
@Liquifin none of the vent sexing is my strong suit. I will take the molts of anything but be 99.99%. The vent thing.... maybe not my thing.. I will keep trying though.
I just posted the avicularia in question if you want to give it shot.
