A. Versicolor Enclosure

Live plants and microfauna in the substrate to help avoid mold/fungus, hopefully avoid mites as well. T is currently 1.5-2"? It likes to stick to it's bark refuge in the back.
Since I couldn't put everything in the description I figured I would here. I had made a forum post for this 2.5 gallon enclosure prior to this version of it.

(If your interested in the failure of the previous set up)

This set up consists of:
  • NEHERP LDL: Lightweight Drainage Layer Substrate
  • Black screen mesh
  • NEHERP Vivarium Substrate "Original"
  • Springtails and White Dwarf Isopods also bought from NEHERP
  • Parlor Palm (The one that spans all the way to the door)
  • Bonsai Umbrella Tree (The more bushy one in the back)
  • Quartz
  • Geode
  • Rose Quartz
  • Water Dish
  • Bark Hide

The plants I chose are going to grow to big for the enclosure. However I plan to keep them pruned and by the time they start to have trouble I feel the T will be ready to move to a bigger enclosure.

@Smiley joe The long palm one that comes across the top towards the door is a Palor Palm and the one more in the back is a Bonsai Umbrella Tree. ^.^

I meant to add this picture to my post but had trouble getting the photo to work. Finally got it though, Here's the 'back' of it.

I very much like this tank! Great job on that habitat! That Avic must feel close to home :)

Thanks. I hope it does. That's the point. ^.^ I have a lot planned for the final enclosure. 18x18x24 Vivarium. It's gonna be pricey but it'll be fun to do and a beautiful display when I get it done I think.

Well, it's certainly one of the few I've seen lately that do the T justice AND look awesome. The only suggestion I'd have is to lower substrate - you really don't need more than 2-3" with Avics.

Only reason I have the substrate that high is for the plants and because of the need of a drainage layer. The substrate and such is solely for plant health rather then a worry towards the T falling to far or anything like that.

Well I plan on moving her to a bigger enclosure. What she was in prior was a lot smaller. You could have easily fit 12 of her original enclosure inside what she has now. By comparison she has a ton more room to roam even with what's in there with her and by the time she gets bigger I'll have something larger for her set up. For her current size and even until she got full size she'd be fine in there.

Thing is I can't remove substrate and still have the live plants in there stay healthy to provide the foliage for her because of their root system. I had originally planned on the substrate being lower and the plants sitting a little lower but the root system dictated otherwise in order to give them a little bit of depth to grow some without immediately hitting the drainage layer.

It's also why I have it sloped like I do down to the front, The level of substrate I wanted originally is what's in the front, but had to add more towards the back to help with the plants. But like I said, there's plenty of room for her now and even as she gets bigger she should be ok until I get the other enclosure done. She wont be full grown till she's at least 2 from what I've read and I want to say she was born some time in September last year?

Oh and after inquiring about gender again, now it sounds like it may be male. XD Not gonna know with her till I get a good molt or she matures completely it seems. She's ornery with everything else, why not this >.> And considering everything else in this house is male except me I'm not gonna be surprised if she turns out to be a he.
