It's not the wisest idea to ID Ts, esp Avics with a single picture, esp a picture that isn't up close with detail. W/that said, having owned A. metallica, that is not like any A. metallica I've owned. Metallica doesn't have red on the abdomen, the setae are white/silver. I can't tell for sure, but it looks like an A. avic to me. Another visual feature on A. metallica is the entire body has white tipped blue setae, like fiber optic lights. Hard to tell if that T has them or not w/this view
Beautiful T, make sure not to mist that cage too much. I see water spots that appear to be from misting. Don't worry about humidity and don't use a humidity gauge in there; just keep a nice, big, full bowl of water.
If you've got this covered, then nevermind and enjoy your T!
I was recently given an Avicularia described as a 'Guyana Pink Toe' from a guy who knew nothing about tarantulas. I tried to get the scientific name out of him, but he didn't have a clue. I assumed that I had an Avicularia avicularia, but I don't know what I have beyond the fact that she is a beautiful and darling spider who is from the Avicularia genus. Maybe when she is full grown, I will get a better idea... but probably not.
I despise common names so much.
