@Isahales i held my first few tarantulas a few times. never any OW. i pinch grabbed my boehmei for a sexing pic a year or so ago, didnt work out. big deal. anyone who says they never held a tarantula when they first started is most likely a liar. i know better now.
have a good one.
@Venom1080
it is a p.metallica he is just old and getting ready to molt i will post a pic after the molt
i hold him a lot and i hold all my tarantulas, holding tarantulas is not bad if you have a tarantula that is docile enough that it will let you hold it then by all means hold it occasionally, from my experience they like to get out and stretch their leg every so often, i have even had an obt that let me hold it from time to time
@the critter guy it is not getting ready to molt. its way too skinny. im pretty sure you have a old MM P met that is starting to die. pm me a pic of the pedipalps if you want, if they are rounded and bulbous, its def a male. i dont know if Poecilotheria have tibial hooks, but you can check on the first pair of legs.
tarantulas dont like "stretching their legs", they are reclusive and are not intelligent enough to get to know their owners. handling is stressful for tarantulas. they should be held rarely if ever. handling OWs is just silly, they have some nasty bites and are bad tempered. specimens can vary but that in no way means you should hold them.
if you doubt anything i say, make a thread about it.
Nice pic, but definitely agree about handling OW. Only thing I question in this area is hostility? Did comments get deleted? One minute sound advice of not handling, next comment slinging mud.
