She arrived safe and sound. She's apparently WC as well, which is a huge plus. She's not skittish or defensive, just a wanderer... hence me not being able to get a shot of her fully on the backdrop.
@Moakmeister Fresh blood for breeding. Regardless of the myths and speculation in the hobby, genetic bottlenecking in complex animals is bad. Any biology textbook will confirm that. WC nearly guarantees that this spider isn't closely related to any male I may end up getting in the future.
No, there really hasn't been documented conformation with regards to it having a detrimental effect...but its a biological fact that "new blood" so to speak, is a genetic positive long term.
@cold blood And she's gorgeous, too. I need to find out when she molted last, she looks fairly fresh. I was also surprised at how much of a sweetheart she is. A baboon that acts like a Brachy... not too shabby.
@nburgmei Easily, because they are less complex animals and no one has observed an "issue" that they are aware of. For all we know, someone has seen the effects of inbreeding, but doesn't even know it. Let's face when a T dies, we very rarely know why a given T died. Fresh genes is only a good thing, if the genes are good.
