Way Way to big.

You should start with slings from the same sac.
Start with a small container, and graduate them as they grow but don't give them a mansion.

I have 20 slings in a small arboreal cube and they are doing just fine.

until they turn on each other and cannibalize
4 molts in and I have not lost one yet. (knock knock knock):)

Do you think many if any will make it to adulthood?
Considering I have seen large communal setups with 40+ adults living together in person, yes I do think they will make it. if they start going nuts on me and killing each other Ill separate, but I am shooting for at least 18 to make it all the way.

Any more then 3 die and its all coming apart. But yes I like feeding and watching these guys together so far. Both the regalis and the pederseni setups are doing well, lets hope it keeps going that way!

Wow, that must look awesome. If you have a big house, you could set up a smaller room for a colony! :D

actually Brian, pokies do really well in cohabitated set-ups. except say formosa and maybe a couple more...

rufilata (7), subfusca(8) and regalis(9) are ones i have together now and all are doing well...but your sediments are shared by many old schoolers so no worries lol....

ray gabriel in some earlier BTS journals wrote on communal set-ups and observations... surprisingly they demonstrated several characteristics to that of highly organized insects like ants. so who knows...im not saying that pokies are communal by nature but many examples in the wild, including the pokie sanctuary in India, all point to them being very tolerant of each other...

pokies will probably be as near as what is considered a communal tarantula

i'd say M.balfouri and a few Pamphobeteus sp' are actually communal..with several generations all living together(sharing hides and prey as a group)...

I have two such setups going now (one of four Poecilotheria pederseni and one of fifteen Poecilotheria regalis) and have experienced no problems thus far aside from the unexplained death of one of the 5 P. pederseni I began with. That death was not the result of inter-species aggression, as best as I can tell (the corpse was simply found outside of the hide one morning, completely intact).

I've asked this before, but never quite got a satisfactory response. How can one create a Pokie colony (ie slings not-related together, that will keep going without the need to replace with new slings all the time.

Can Addults from different sacs live together?
