    Click Beetles

I was in the woods today here in Delaware and caught 2 big click beetles(alaus oculatus). I tried googling them and read that they feed on nectar and plant juice. I'd like to keep them for a few days if anybody has any information on their care. Thanks in advance for any information provided. Ron

Couldn't find any care information so I decided to try to get them to eat something. I put some mashed banana and some mashed cooked sweet potato in their keeper. They have been eating the mixture for over an hour seeming to concentrate their feeding efforts more on the swt pot over the banana. Ron

I'm not sure how many people have kept these, so you should make sure to record your results! Do you know if they're a male-female pair?

No, I don't know the sexes. They are two sizes with one 50% bigger than the other. I will keep them as long as they continue to eat. Ron

Ask Orin under the user name "Elytra and Antenna" on this website. He should be able to help you.

Unless there was a serious deficiency in the smaller one's larval food source, it sounds like it's a male.
